Install step 5 fails to connect to database

In step 5 of the install (demo software) I am unable to connect to mysql. I am running SME Server and I don't have a clue how to proceed from here.

If you cannot proceed it, a way is to open phpMyAdmin and from installer dump 2 files, mysql.sql and mysql_inserts.sql.
Then all should work.
